  • Updated Toolbars

We designed the Xanga Themes system to give you the maximum possible control over the look and layout of your site (if you know your way around CSS, the new "Custom CSS" option gives you essentially infinite control).

But as you go out and explore the wild variation across Xanga Sites, we still want to make sure it's easy for you to find your way home... So we updated the little toolbars that appear at the top and bottom of themed pages to provide consistent navigation to all the most requested links:

    • xanga logo - mouse over the logo and you'll see it's now a menu to all the major pages of Xanga.com
    • now visiting: [username] - this link now provides navigation to all the major pages of the Xanga Site you are visiting
    • subscribe - this new link gives you quick options to subscribe, friend, or message the user you are visiting
    • ratings and flags - we just integrated these guys more tightly into the toolbar (they used to trigger old popup windows; now they open up just like any other toolbar link)
    • blog now! - this new link lets you add new weblog entries, photos, videos or pulse posts right away

These toolbars appear only on themed pages, but we're working right now to add themes support to every page of your Xanga Site (there are twenty seven different pages  - more on this effort later). When we're finished (hopefully within a few weeks!) every page on a themed Xanga Site will have a consistent look & layout (thanks to Xanga Themes) and consistent navigation (thanks to the toolbars).

Please check out the updated toolbars and let us know what you think!

  • Shareable Themes and Custom CSS!

Now you can submit your themes to the Xanga Theme Directory!

remixer-share-cssTo submit a theme, just click the new "share your theme" link inside the remixer (you should see it right above the "Save" button).

After your theme is submitted, you can update it or even retire it - you have control. You'll also see stats on how many people save and preview your themes .

    But wait, there's more...

You can also add custom CSS to your themes!

Just click the little "CSS" option inside your remixer and you'll see an area to add your own css. If you want some more room to work, just click the "full screen" option  .

Have fun and let us know what you think of the new options - thanks!

To get rid of having to use those horrid themes, you can edit your Xanga's Look & Feel the old way by going to http://www.xanga.com/CLAFI've been doing it that way forever. Themes are so dumb and I can never get any of my custom modules, CSS, or site stats codes to show up.

@kittyfaithfulness - I'm going to say Xanga. It's doing it on both my work laptop, and my gaming computer.

Alright I've got a question. For some reason, I can't do the 'lil "remix" option. Won't work. On either of my computers. Just loads eternally. Any reason I haven't thought of that could cause this?

My CSS won't work on my site, but when I did another one (site), it worked. I wanted to add a playlist.
