  • Codes on Xanga Themes

    Many of you have pointed out
    that you’d like CSS and Javascript codes to work with your new Xanga Themes. We are currently looking into how to allow this in safe way.

    But in the meantime, could you help us out by letting us know:

    • What specific codes do you use on your Xanga site?
    • What codes do you miss on your Xanga Theme?

    Thanks!

  • Friends have been recommending

    Xanga Private Comments

    Would I be able to use that with the themes?

  • sitemeter, suhock for counting and tracking.

    i used to use a script for pop-up window to resize automatically to the image for bigger viewing, using a function with “window.open”… i also had some dropdown menus going on my skin, using “form” tag. i miss those a little.

    sitemeter is the higher priority though.

  • I use and love the fishcan.com tracker. If I could still use that, I’d be sold on the themes.

  • A custom CSS block for each module and section, and one for the entire page. And I want it now. :)

  • How do you put music on the new xanga thing?

  • I also like having fishcan on my site, though I typically only use it when footprints acts sketchy.

    DeviantArt.com’s pasties (or “widgets”) are the main thing I would like to be able to use on there. I usually use it to show the 5 most popular photographs on DeviantArt. (It’s automatically updated.) They’re javascript.

  • I miss fishcan too. There are more but that’s what I can think of just this second.

  • I want the customized smilies, changes of the names of things, (props, comments, all that) and the changes to the e-prop graphics. (Just make all Easter Egg’s scripts work again! LOL) AND a custom CSS box for every single editable thing, like sean asked for! And I want it last week.

  • To change the borders on individual blog entries (not just the entire blog entry group) & to be able to make each one go into it’s own scroll box automatically. And the script that changes the name of the site to something else. (When I say “name” I mean, for example on this page, “XangaTheme’s Xanga Site” and converting that into “Little House on the Fish” or something…)

  • I keep thinking about things later on. Curses. The scrollbar color changer, even though FireFox doesn’t support it. (IE does.)

    Aka,

    +style type=”text/css”+
    body {
    scrollbar-arrow-color: #000000;
    scrollbar-track-color: #FFFFFF;
    scrollbar-shadow-color: #000000;
    scrollbar-face-color: #87B7B7;
    scrollbar-highlight-color: #FFFFFF;
    scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #FFFFFF;
    scrollbar-3dlight-color: #000000;}
    +/style+

    I swerr I’ll stop now. x]

  • Being able to use the customized smilies and the fishcan tracker

  • advertising java codes.

  • i miss my librarything.com javascript code.i put it into the older themes, the new themes no…

  • I really miss my “fishcan” xanga tracker. It tracked the IP addresses of computers as well as counted and kept detailed logs on who visited when and how often. It was great and I miss it quite a lot.

  • oops,btw, i miss my smiley script for my comments from Easteregg’s…my comments are so dull now

  • Use/can’t live without:
    hit counter
    eprop image changer
    alternating color backgrounds

    Use/miss/but not crucial:
    easteregg’s smiley script for comments
    rotating header image
    sean’s link to comments

    Really want:
    custom css for each individual module

  • how can i fix my “no right click” code to work on this new thing?

  • How about actionscripting? Will Xanga accomodate the use of the new Adobe CS3?

  • I miss the one that changed the name of eprops and comments. That was my favorite, it made the site more personal

  • fishcan tracker, smiley codes

  • Facebook! JavaScript

  • I had a script that shows a random question (or quote, if you like) each time the page loads, but it won’t work in the new system…

  • I spoke to Chris a little about this. I like some of the current themes, but my site is far too customized to support them. I don’t know CSS or barely HTML, so I’m a bit a loss!

  • how to switch back to the old version?

  • I’d love the cbox thing (http://www.cbox.ws) to work again.

  • The new themes are so cool, I hope that more features get added to make them more customizeable.

  • 1. the code that got rid of eprops showing up on my site

    2. the code for pets from different sites

    3. the code to change the name of “prop” and “comment”

  • Well, I had one script I wrote that had a list of quotes and would render one of them at random. The code closely resembles the code for the darkplayer music script, so just make sure that one works.

    Also, all the scripts that EasterEgg wrote were great, and I’d love to see those working again (though I’d like to see some of them become standard features).

    All the scripts that are in the help section (renaming things, etc.) were good and I want those back.

    The private comments feature should be standard.

    That’s about all that I really used. I can email you the text files of what I had in claf if you want. I already emailed them to Monsur, I think.

  • i’m voting for a hit counter. my old one doesn’t work anymore since xanga doesn’t redirect to that home.aspx site.

  • XHR! there ARE ways to implement this safely, or perhaps make it premium only

  • I’m signed in at the moment as SamYoung05, but between it, and Phragmipedium, I use (or used to):

    * Blogrolling’s dynamic link list

    * site tracking from SiteMeter, ExtremeTracking, Fishcan, and MyXSpy

    * dynamic free content from FreeDictionaries for modules that display “This Day in History,” “Quote of the Day,” etc.

    * Technorati

    There are other such things I use at Blogspot, but not at either of my Xanga accounts. Allowing Haloscan and Gravatar in addition to Xanga’s standard comments would be a nice touch, but it’s not high on my list, compared to the ones I cited with asterisks.

  • Yeah, the No Props is one we had discussed before…I know several people who want that one.

  • i’ve noticed that Snapshots do not work on Themes. it’d be great if that could be integrated as well.

  • i love the themes, but codes should be enabled…. like trackers or music players,

  • as good as the themes are, it needs a javascript module, for us crazy people who find weird things like obscure virtual fortune cookies, and a music player.

  • all the HTML… I had alot of basic HTML and I would like to be able to still use it. and its kinda hard to change things on the sides…Its like they are set.

  • can i have my original look & feel page work again?
    i love my previous layout which has music player, icons of eprops, n exactually my taste my style!! but not all stopped. even i can see the script on look n feel page, it doesnt appear on my xange!!

    sooooo SAD !!

  • I cant seem to use my chatbox ANYMORE! rawR. aND i CANT SEEM TO REVERT BACK TO MY OLD XANGA EDITOR.

  • I know ur all wigetizing xanga buuttt having these codes allowed would be nice :)

    1.) Flash code embedding
    2.) Javascripting (might be asking too much buttt ykna, I like the disable right click and select code)

    :)

  • counters!

    e.g. ULSP, suhock, sitemeter

    and also private comments script.
    em….also…
    xanga private comments.

    i hope those javascript can work in the new themes asap…. =] once it works, i will absolutely change to use the new themes!
    thanks a lot! good job anyways
    xxx

  • The most important code I think is one that keeps people from right clicking on your photos and saving them to their computers. As a grandmother, that is very important to me.
    mary

  • i want the CSS codes to stay! i need them! i need my tagboard, advertisements, music and my EVERYTHING! :(

  • what i really want is to be able to import my current css file, so i don’t have to start tweaking my site from scratch if i switch to themes.

    and javascript support too.

  • i’m so mad right now . i got one theme and i don`t know how to get a regular layout now . I think i’m going to get a new site !
    Forget It ,
    Confused Girl

  • i use basic html and i like it and some java script but im old fashioned i guess.

  • adsense, xanga photo module, and sitemeter would be nice.

  • I love the old system more.

    How can I stop using xanga theme and use the old system again?

  • I would need my code in the old “website stats” box Those are the only js code I’d need.. please? :)

  • Also I’d like to be able to type my own CSS with a xhtml validated xanga layout with divs.

  • i have a problem. i cant seem to be able to save the theme and publish it. WHY?

  • Also, it’s not a code but a style…for adding background images UNDER text.

  • I want my del.ici.us cloud back and my bloglines subscription list.

  • Sitemeter and Suhock trackers.

  • E-prop image changer!!

    And I liked the way you could display your photos better before (the ones displayed rotated) instead of how only the most recently uploaded show in the new themes.

  • I like “div” sites.

    I miss the OLD xanga edit.  “edit.xanga.com/claf.aspx”

  • does this cost any money????

  • everyone’s probably already beat me to saying it, but I really want to embed youtube videos please.

  • Just please relax the restrictions on the HTML allowed in Custom Modules, for example (i)frame…

    Many thanks.

  • c-box and a music player (from project playlist) and the voice commenter (from snapvine)

  • fishcam.com tracker, music, and a customized cursor – maybe add xtra things for weather -

  • Themes do not work on Macs using Firefox! Please test this on all platforms before you release it. I cannot read half the text and even leaving this comment is hard.

  • I agree with Sean.  Why can’t premium members also have theam custom headers and footers and Java script modules in Setup like we used to?

  • I miss the fact that I could rename links like “subscribe”, and “Photos” and all those. I also would like be able o put javascript in a custom module.

  • sitemeter,flooble chatbox

  • I miss using the project playlist music player.

  • I have a mybloglog widget to show who is coming to my site but the new theme does not allow this..I also have suhock tracker and I absolutly love it! just one more thing I cannot use. I love the new theme but if you guys cannot fix this problem with not being able to use Javascript I will have to go back to the old theme

  • i luv having a space to put my tubes (playlist x)

  • Smilies! I miss them!

  • Did i mention smilies! hehe

  • Smilie codes would be awesome! *another hint*

  • i would like to have background music in a new theme~thank you.

    by the way, the new theme editor is very powerful~it is surprise~^^

  • i want to add the chatbox thing.

  • the ulsp tracker**

  • webring and it involves javascript.

  • I use some javascript to “randomly” put text at the top of my page each time it loads. It would be nice if this could work.
    (I’m going to paste that code here, I hope it shows up)
    var j, list= new Array()
    list[list.length]=’”Live long and prosper.”
    - Spock, Star Trek’;
    list[list.length]=’I love cheesecake!‘;
    list[list.length]=’Cold fusion in a pop bottle using stuff I found in my garage?
    Please. Been there. Done that.’;
    j=parseInt(Math.random()*list.length);
    j=(isNaN(j))?0:j;
    document.write(list[j]);

  • Man, there are too many xanga teams places to subscribe to. I didn’t this one and I have missed stuff.

    Oh well, will do that now.

    Hey, how do I get back to my theme that I haven’t used yet to see if I can do with it what I would like to now?

    There used to be a link on this page or some other.

    I was considering giving the suhoc tracker a toss if the new theme was workable layout wise now. I will page back and check it out to see if it is.

    Also, is there a link to the forum on the Xanga front page? And do you plan to use that forum for other things? That would be a great place to hold a clearing house for xanga issues.

  • Nope, still a margin, spacing and header problems. Oh well, with time I am sure it will be all cool. This site look great btw.

  • i dont like my new theme!! how do i take it offf?? i like my old layout better!

  • THIS KINDA CODES

  • I use a voice comments player as well as a stalker code.

  • erm… i really don’t know what kind of code i’d like, since i write my own codes and skins. but wheni ad a free account, i did notice that the counters i used didn’t work well and the customizable modules weren’t very customizable. could relax on the type of code restrictions a bit. n.n’

  • FLOOBLE CHATTER BOX!!!

  • i would LOVE to have my chatbox back.

  • OMG, I really just wanna switch back 2 the old Look and Feel

  • pkay i just like started a new xanga site and ummmmm……………….. lets just say id have a better chance getting the dead to rise then making my profile or whatever you call it be the way and look the way i would like it to so if somebody would PLEASE tell/teach me how to find my way around this insane and duranged labrinth of a website please somehow contact me in some way unknownst to me because like the rest of the complicated things on this site i have no idea what you are supposed to do… i feel so lost…..

  • hi i wanna add a tagboard to it, but i can’t. =(

    can you help me to fix the problem PLEASE!

  • I’d like to be able to keep people from right clicking on my photos.

  • I’m not a fan of eProps, so I’d like to add a script to remove them. I heard of plans of a Code Directory–any word on that?

  • fishscan and sitemeter, smiley codes, library thing code,

  • I found out that I could not input music codes to work with my site. I want this back!!

  • can you please allow the use of codes for tagboards (cbox, etc.) when using themes?

  • I used custom CSS to apply styles quickly inside of my entries. I used to have song quotes at the end of my blogs, and rather than styling them every time, I just put those quotes into a “span” with a class name that I defined in only one place.

  • the use of scripts please. i want to add external tagboards for my non-xanga friends. also some css. please and thank you! =]

  • I want to use my gas prices, and my quote of the day, and my weatherunderground.com I have a couple i want to add but it says that they are not “allowed”… pretty mundane stuff compared to some… any suggestions. pleasy message my xanga.

  • music player and sitemeter are VERY missed!!

  • just give us back the old xanga T.T

  • Give us Suhock’s XASM! Please! It’s the only reason I am not adopting Xanga Themes, yet.

  • could you add functionality for the clustrmaps code?

  • I miss using layout codes.  I like the layouts better

  • i dont know if its just me, but i cant put any music :(

  • I’d like to disable right click on my xanga site.

  • I may be late in replying, but I’d like to be able to add blogroll codes so that I can keep up with those in the blogging world who are not on xanga and they can keep up with me in return.

  • My sitemeter code is still “not allowed”. Can that be fixed?

  • I am very dissapointed that my code won’t work for my layout… from http://www.myspaceoryours.net …. I haven’t found anything on xanga themes that I like very much.  Also, my music code isn’t working either… from http://www.bestaudiocodes.com .

    I would REALLY appreciate it if y’all could get these codes working again!!

  • i want java scrip and html not css!!!!!!!!!

  • I really want to be able to use sitemeter with themes.  I refuse to switch to themes until I can use sitemeter.

  • I like the new themes very much.

    What I miss is my Bible Search box.
    The code I used was:

    <table border=”1″ cellspacing=”0″ cellpadding=”2″>
    <tr><th>Lookup a word or passage in the Bible
    <tr><td>

    Include this form on your page

  • could you include the chatterbox ans Sitemeter codes again pls?

  • scrollbars in the weblog entries

  • Yes difinately NEED a music player!!

    & i want layouts like old xanga :’[

  • I like to put music on my xanga and i can’t figure out how with the new system

  • Please make a way for us to put music on our sites! i liked it better when it was the LOOK AND FEEL that changed the site. it is much easier to work with.

  • http://xangaccess.ulsp.info/

    That is a website that has a code for password protection on posts and it requires me to put the HTML code into the website stats section.

    I used the CSS module, but it won’t let me.  Also, why isn’t there a module for Website Stats?

  • With themes I can’t use image swapping in my header. I have images, that swap when you mouseover, works in xanga classic but not in xanga themes. I also can’t use my sitemeter. I also can’t use automatic scrollbars for each entry. I also can’t use my suhock tracker. I guess I will stick with classic until this can be rectified.

    -Heidi

  • I MISS SCROLL BAR CODES FOR ENTRIES, POSITIONING MARQUEES WHERE I WANT ON THE PAGE, GIVEN THE OPTION TO HAVE ONLY THE MAIN MODULE BY HIDING IT WITH CODE, JAVASCRIPT CODES, MUSIC PLAYER CODES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PLEASEEEE!!! At least put a music player there like myspace does or at least let us paste code for one!! :(

    At least myspace lets me make my layout look ANYWAY I’d LIKE. of course there are very little restrictions as opposed to xanga’s. BUT MYSPACE SUCKS AS A WEBLOG AND I JUST REALLY LOVE XANGA AND ITS COMMUNITY

    SO GET WORKIN ON IT ALREADY!!!! x(

    thanks

  • I tried writing something in a custom module in the HTML place, and I just wanted to write something not and actual code and it ignores the enters.

    Lets say I wanted to write “I love Cereal!” ok?
    I’d want to write it like this
    “I
    Love
    Cereal!”

    But it comes out like this:
    “I Love Cereal!”

    How can I make it recongnize my “enters”

  • er… i use a lot of codes to change the layout of the xanga… such as the cursor, and the title…

  • i would like to add disable right click onto my site but i don’t know how to. help me please!!

  • javascript code of course! for example I want to put this in my xanga site:

    apmBlogparts_init(150,282);

  • i miss the right click save, or some feature that can prevent others from saving my pictures!

  • You need to find and replace the Security Codes! I hate your stupid Themes! I have an Icon site, and I like having a “No-Highlight” (No copy and paste) but having my right click working so that they can save an icon to their own computer!

    Why do you people think this is so cool, when everyone EFFIN HATES IT! You need to change it back.

    I tried to undo mine in the way that was stated by Sean. It does not take the Theme completely off. My layout looks normal, but when I check my comments, or anything else….it’s still in the “Themes”.

    How about a comment back?

    sugarpink_kissesXo

  • MUSIC PLAYER!

    usually we r able to make our own html header….but now,, where m i suppose to put the code??

  • I wrote my own fortune cookie code and I refuse to use the new theme system because i love it.

  • i want to have a colorful background on my xanga, but then that makes the text hard to read. i used to make a div box around the whole page and make the div box background semi transparent.

    i think it’d be great if the transparency feature could be incorporated into xanga themes. i noticed that the archives calendar has some transparency with it, can you make the same transparency available for the entire site?

  • what actually is the safety problem? I’d really like to have javas… for aNobii

  • I have a warning pop-up message, a scrolling marquee, the eprop image changer and I love all three.

    I’d really like xanga themes, but I’d like them even more if you guys could make the xanga themes handle codes like the ones I’ve listed above. :)

  • where exactly do i put codes for themes? ive tired and it wont work and this is making me made
